Samsung has announced the Galaxy S23 FE, expanding on the discontinued Fan Edition series, which was paused in 2022 following the release of the Galaxy S21 FE release. Priced at $599, it positions itself as a mid-range option, bridging the gap between Samsung’s budget Galaxy A series and the high-end Galaxy S series. Notably, it comes in at a lower cost compared to the $799.99 Galaxy S23.
The Galaxy S23 FE boasts a 6.4-inch 1080×2340 OLED 120 Hz display, which is slightly smaller than the 6.6-inch screen found on the S23 Plus. To lower the costs, the device is equipped with last year’s Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The SoC is still a powerful one that powers devices like the Motorola Razr Plus and the Honor Magic Vs foldable phones.
In terms of photography, the S23 FE features a triple rear camera system featuring a 50MP wide lens, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto zoom lens. The latter offers a slightly lower resolution compared to the S23’s 10MP zoom camera. The front camera is an 8MP shooter, a lower resolution than the S23’s 10MP front camera.
An addition to the S23 FE’s features is reverse wireless charging and the inclusion of a telephoto lens. The device is equipped with a 4500mAh battery, an upgrade from the Galaxy S23’s 3900mAh capacity. The device gets 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options.
Similar to the S23 series, the S23 FE supports wired charging at a speed of 25W, though the adapter needs to be purchased separately. The device will be available in six colors at launch, including mint, purple, cream, graphite, indigo, and tangerine. However, the latter two colors will be exclusive to Samsung.com. The Galaxy S23 FE is set to hit stores on October 26th.
